First install the gutter sections into the outlets using the hangers to support the individual sections. To install rain gutters first you ll need to measure the length of the roof you re working with and then purchase that many feet of gutter material from a home improvement store. Hang the gutter sections. Then measure and cut a hole for the downspout.

Start at the end of the gutter away from the downspout location and measure down 1 2 inch or the distance recommended by your gutter manufacturer and make a mark. Combine this measurement with your layout to determine the specific pieces you will need for your job. Attach a drop outlet at the far end of the roof line. Add a bracket every 20 to 24 inches.

Attach a gutter connector to the fascia with screws every 10 feet. After cutting the gutter to its proper length secure the end caps with the sealant. Attach the first gutter hanging bracket 4 inches in from the original end of the roof line. Use a plastic slip joint at the end of every 10 foot length connecting the gutter sections for each section with connectors.

Screw it to the fascia board. A gutter connector marries two sections of gutter. Use a crimping tool to tighten the caps into place.
