Fasten the parts together with pop rivets or screws.
Move to the downspout end and measure down the same distance and mark it.
Now drill the remaining holes and install the rivets.
Then set the new length of gutter into the installed length with about 5 in.
If you have inside corners subtract 5 inches.
Installing the gutters start at the end of the gutter away from the downspout location and measure down 1 2 inch or the distance recommended by your gutter manufacturer and make a mark.

If you have a straight run gable roof measure from shingle to shingle and then add 1 2 inch to each side for a slight overlap.
Screw a downspout elbow to the outlet tube protruding down from the gutter.
Start by drilling a 1 8 in.
Set up a ladder at one end of the roof line and climb to the edge of the roof with ruler and pencil and a drop.
