Metal drip edge flashing is an important element of any roofing edge.

Hold the drip edge up to the ridge and make a mark along where the drip edge exceeds the roof.
Lift up roof shingles and nail the eave strip in place with galvanized.
Make sure the outer edge extends over the gutter.
On some roofs you may need to remove a couple of shingle nails to make some room to work.
Slide the flat bar under starter course and pry out the nails.

Install roof drip edge along the eaves add underlayment then place drip edge along the gable end.
Apply a continuous bead of cement along the top of the drip edge then press down on the shingle.
Make a straight cut through the bottom of the drip edge with your tin snips.
It bends around the edge of the roof channeling any moisture that penetrates the shingles away from the roof decking.
Fold the drip edge to fit over the ridge.
Extend the mastic 12 inches each way from a nailed seam and eight inches.
Mark the plumb line or centerline as in the image below.
If it doesn t pull the drip edge out slightly from under the shingles.
The best way is to install the roof drip edge only along the eaves first then place ice and water barrier in the snowbelt or felt paper underlayment over the drip edge.
Slip the wide flat flange of the material all the way under the first course of roof shingles as illustrated.
Open a container of roofing mastic.
Use a flat pry bar to remove drip edge nails along the eave and rakes.
You may need to use a putty knife to break the seam between the first course and the starter strip.
Align one end of the lower eave strip even with the edge of the roof decking.
