Pdf is a very common file format and you ll find many architectural drawings are shared in pdf format as well as most product data manuals.
Currently you cannot import a pdf directly into sketchup on the windows version so the usual way to import something at least is to convert the pdf file into a raster image.
From the cad faqs it seems that there is no vector geometry in the file.
In the import pdf dialog that appears next verify the preview looks correct and choose whether to import just the current page associated with the pdf file select pages or all pages into your plan.
You can select a desired template or create floor plan in desired shape by adding wall points or using drawing tools line rectangle circle etc.
